If adventure, island life and rich culture is something you enjoy we recommend adding New Caledonia to your bucket list. When researching best destinations for unbelievable scenery and pristine beaches New Caledonia was at the top of the list.
5 Reasons Why You Should Add New Caledonia to Your Bucket List
New Caledonia made it on our bucket list a couple of years ago when I was researching the most pristine beaches in the world and I came across photos of the most incredible blue water I’ve ever seen. I knew right away that I would want to visit the islands one day.
After researching this destination I’ve come up with 5 reasons why you would want to visit New Caledonia and I hope that you’ll be able to visit this beautiful place someday soon!
1. You Can Visit 5 Different Regions in One Trip
I love variety, especially when I travel. I want to soak up as many different sights as I can and while I may love the ocean my husband prefers not to lay on the beach all day so we compromise by finding destinations that suits us both.
New Caledonia has 5 different regions throughout the islands:
– Nouméa, the capital city of New Caledonia is on the ocean.
–The West Coast of the mainland which is known for cattle farming and a beautiful lagoon.
–The East Coast which is home to the central mountain range of the Mainland.
–The Great South which shows off New Caledonia’s three main colors: blue, green and red.
–The Islands of New Caledonia each have their own character. There are 5 islands that border the mainland and each has something different to offer.
Now you see why New Caledonia refers to themselves as “one trip, many worlds”.
2. New Caledonia’s Lagoon
The lagoon is one of the most beautiful lagoons in the world,. It’s home hundreds of underwater wildlife species, corals and plant species. My husband recently became a PADI certified diver and diving in the New Caledonia Lagoon is something we plan to do on our visit. For more information on diving in New Caledonia click here.
3. Various Air Routes and Flights to the Islands
Of course, there are so many questions that come up when planning a vacation to faraway travel destinations. One of those being “how do we get there?”. Air Calin flies to and from the islands from some of these well-known places; Port-Vila, Futuna, Wallis, Nandi, Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, and Auckland.
4. Adventure is Waiting
Our family is always up for an adventure. We love air, water, and land adventures that allow us to get outside of our comfort zone and try something new. New Caledonia is known for being a great place for all types of adventures. Check out this of things you can enjoy during your visit:
- Ultralight flights
- Horse riding
- Mountain biking
- Scuba Diving
5. The Rich and Diverse Cultural Life
Our goal when traveling is to always leave feeling like we are rich with new experiences and memories of the places we visit. I believe it’s so important to dive into the culture of every destination.
The art, festivals, and museums in New Caledonia will help you embrace the mixed cultures, accents, and languages. They call it a “true melting pot”.
