Our adventurous crew had a very exciting year full of many family-friendly travel destinations. I thought it would be fun to look back on the places we visited and recount a few of the highlights.
My first ‘mom trip’ without my husband or kids. What an incredible adventure! I learned the benefits of taking time for yourself and immensely enjoyed exploring Costa Rica. I discovered the beauty of Eco-Friendly Lodging and will never forget the experience of being surrounded by wildlife. Read more about my time in Costa Rica here.
Beavers Bend, OK
This is a location we have visited many times with our family. It’s the perfect area for weekend getaways and family reunions. The beautiful hiking areas are what brings us back year after year. This was a great location for our large family to reconnect this year. Read about our adventure in Oklahoma here.
Buena Vista, CO
I highly suggest reading Why I Fell In Love With Buena Vista, CO. This is a destination that I anxiously anticipate visiting again. The morning strolls through a quaint small town, white water rafting on the river, and soaking in the hot springs were all reasons why I can’t wait to return!
Smokey Mountains, TN
Our heart goes out to all those affected by the recent wildfire tragedy in Tennessee. I was able to enjoy the Smokey Mountains for the first time this year. Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are family-friendly locations that I would add to your must-see list. Let’s help these places recover by continuing to travel there.
St Louis, MO
We enjoyed volunteer community service work near St Louis. This is one place I have always wanted to visit with my kids. Seeing the Gateway Arch was a fun experience, viewing a piece of history with your own eyes is always a memorable moment. I was happy to share it with family and friends. One of my favorite bloggers is from St Louis and she writes all about fun things to do in the area, visit her Blog at And Hattie Makes Three.
Our short but exciting getaway to Branson was full of family-friendly shows, exploring Silver Dollar City, and strolling down the Branson Landing. This is a great location for multi-generational travel. There is something for all ages to enjoy.
Playa Del Carmen, Mexico
We ended our year with sand, sun, and beautiful ocean water before us. Eating fresh ceviche on the beach and swimming in the aqua blue water was the perfect way to end this year.
Texas Safari Adventure
We enjoyed exploring places in our own home state – Texas! Check out our experience at the Drive-Thru Texas Safari Adventure. Our kids LOVED this experience!
Another highlight of my year was having my first Guest Post published by TravelingMom.com. I wrote about our experience at LegoLand Discovery Center in Dallas, TX. I’m looking forward to working with this amazing group of writers as they educate families on all things family travel related. They are a great resource for information about destinations and ways to plan for your next adventure.
I’m looking forward to creating more travel memories in 2017, what about you?
